Good News

We're happy to report that Governor Perdue has signed into law S836 ("Oil Spill Liability, Response, & Preparedness")! This legislation is a big win for North Carolina. It will ensure that oil companies are fully liable for damage to our state from offshore oil spills and will strengthen state law to prevent an offshore drilling catastrophe off our coast.

PROTECT NC FROM TOXIC COAL ASH

Burning CoalNC is home to 12 "high hazard" toxic coal ash dump sites that could release heavy metals like arsenic, lead and mercury into our groundwater and drinking water. All coal ash sites that have been tested in NC were found to have contaminated ground or surface water. Sign our online petition and urge the EPA to adopt strong public health protections from toxic coal ash:  action.ncconservationnetwork.org/coal

Or please RSVP to attend the hearing: action.ncconservationnetwork.org/coalhearing
