Grassroots Energy Alliance* and the Dept. of Environmental, Earth and Geospatial Sciences of NC Central University invite you to participate in Green Jobs Now! a forum highlighting opportunities for employment in the building sector of the sustainability movement.
Designed to serve the interests of local communities, youth, educators, business and civic leaders, and staff members of nonprofit organizations, the forum will be held April 10 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Mary M. Townes Science Building on the NCCU campus.
“Green Jobs Now!” will show that climate change and pollution are now recognized as problems we can begin to address by changing the way we generate and use energy, especially in our homes and public buildings.
Because communities of color are disproportionately impacted by these problems
and typically have fewer resources to respond to the negative impacts,
the forum will focus on green jobs creation, training, and placement as an economic development strategy.
Schedule
6:30 pm - Hospitality hour with green jobs PowerPoint presentation
6:50 pm - Green jobs outlook in North Carolina and the U.S. - presented by the State Energy Office
7:00 pm - Keynote presentation by Yasmin Fozard, Landscape Architect and Adjunct Instructor,

Each session will be attended by half of the forum participants,
with leaders moving from one group to the other between sessions.

How do we meet the growing demand for sustainability in new construction and existing buildings?
What skills are needed by the workforce and what preparation will prospective employees require?
