Release the HAVA Funds

State legislators have underfunded North Carolina’s election administration for 2012, effectively freezing a $4 million federal grant that would improve North Carolina’s election system. The federal money comes from the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) which was passed in 2002 to prevent another Florida fiasco. Without the funding, North Carolina election workers, administrators, and voters will face more problems and stress on Election Day.

NC's Air Toxics Program at risk

Some legislators are taking aim at NC’s important Air Toxics Program, which keeps our communities safe from toxic air pollution. Children, pregnant women and senior citizens are at risk for serious health problems if the air they breathe is contaminated by nearby industrial emissions. The companies requesting that state legislators repeal the program are some of the largest emitters in the state.

Tell Governor Perdue and state legislators to oppose any effort to dismantle the Air Toxics Program:
