<p>NC WARN is a 20 year old Durham-based non-profit working to slow climate change
by working with allies to stop construction of Duke Energy’s Cliffside coal
plant, phase out existing coal plants across the state, and promote energy
efficiency and green collar jobs. We are looking for an experienced grassroots
organizer to work on these campaigns. For more information on NC WARN see our

Duties Will Include: <br>
• Helping develop an overall strategy
for the coal-phase out campaign; <br>
• Developing a detailed organizing plan in
targeted communities to exert pressure to close coal plants; <br>
• Being very
informed on climate change, coal plants, coal-related health issues, energy
efficiency, creating green collar jobs, and related topics; <br>
• Researching
and developing relevant materials; <br>
• Organizing local chapters and
supporting coalitions to accomplish these goals; <br>
• Building paid membership
and major donors to help finance the organization; and <br>
• Networking with
allies across the state and similar campaigns in different states.</p>
• At least 2 years of successful grassroots organizing and leadership
development experience;
• A college degree and demonstrated competence in
research, writing, and advanced computer skills; and
• A theoretical
grounding in strategy, organizing, leadership development, social movements, and
political sociology.
