The AmeriCorps Program Director should possess:

The Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy (CMLC) is a local nonprofit organization that works with families and landowners to preserve the land that is important to them and to our communities. Since 1994, CMLC has helped to protect over 17,700 acres in Henderson, Transylvania and parts of Buncombe, Rutherford and Jackson counties in western North Carolina using voluntary tools such as conservation easements, land donations and purchases. CMLC administers AmeriCorps Project Conserve, a grant-funded community service project which places twenty-one AmeriCorps members at local organizations and agencies in Western North Carolina for eleven-month terms of service to meet the growing conservation needs of our region. ***Specific duties:*** Under the direction and supervision of the Executive Director, the AmeriCorps Program Director will: *1. Coordinate fulfillment of the AmeriCorps Project Conserve grant by overseeing the program administration, providing leadership, direction and motivation for the AmeriCorps members in accordance with program requirements and working with 21 AmeriCorps members assigned to 13 host sites; *2. Ensure program compliance with state AmeriCorps policies and the stated plans and policies of CMLC; *3. Develop and schedule member trainings and team-based service days; *4. Draft monitoring instruments, and produce programmatic reports; *5. Compile and review data for submission to grantor, specifically tracking performance measures; *6. Participate in required statewide and national trainings; *7. Be responsible for the development and implementation of member recruitment and service delivery including monitoring sites; *8. Assist in general grant management and in submitting continuation grant proposals; *9. Serve as a liaison to the North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism & Community Service and partnering host sites; *10. Coordinate CMLC’s Project Conserve Advisory Committee; *11. Promote and build greater awareness of Project Conserve.
