9-27-08: Green Jobs Now
As a part of the national call to action on green jobs, the NC Conservation Network is partnering with organizations to host two different events in the coming week (in the Triangle). We encourage you to attend, volunteer, and/or spread the word about these events! Details are below.
"Growing A Just, Green Economy" (which will be held Saturday September 20 from 8:00am - 4:00pm at NC Central University) is a statewide conference with public, private, and community stakeholders who share a vision for an equitable, environmentally sound economy. During the conference they will investigate the future of sustainable communities, businesses, and jobs in North Carolina. Featured speakers include Majora Carter, founder and former Executive Director of Sustainable South Bronx, and Rev. Dr. William J Barber II, President of North Carolina's NAACP branch. Global Warming Rolling Sunlight Tour, 9/24
Join the NC Conservation Network/1Sky NC and Greenpeace for the North Carolina stop of the Global Warming Rolling Sunlight Tour on Wednesday September 24th from 11:00am - 3:00pm at the NC Museum of Natural Science. The tour has been all across the country and features the Rolling Sunlight Truck which is equipped with a solar array! Volunteers are needed for an hour or two between 10:30 am - 3:30 pm.
