Come join Earth Share of North Carolina (ESNC) for its second annual statewide campout called Campout! Carolina. On the weekend of October 10-12, people from across North Carolina are encouraged to turn off or unplug any non-essential electrical items and enjoy a night of camping in support of a healthy North Carolina environment. This is a great opportunity to take a break from your busy schedule, share time with friends and family and save energy while you are at it! Last year, over 600 North Carolinians registered for Campout! Carolina, and with your help, they plan to double or even triple the turn out this year!

Campout! Carolina 2008 is being sponsored by the outdoor store REI and the outdoor outfitter The North Face. REI is also making it easy for campers to participate by offering free rental of camping gear including tents, sleeping bags and backpacks on a first-come, first-serve basis. A limited supply of Campout! Carolina t-shirts are available at participating REI stores.

To get an accurate tally of campers, ESNC has developed a website where campers can be counted as part of the state's largest campout. While online, you can also find your nearest campground, environmentally friendly camping tips as well as fun camping activities and games!
