Bird's Eye View of NC's Drought

On Saturday December 1 our Organizer Veronica Butcher flew out of the Chapel Hill airport over the Triangle with local pilot Bob Epting and volunteer videographer Dave Zahn, to document what the drought is doing to the water supplies for Chapel Hill, Cary, Raleigh, and Durham. What she saw over the course of twenty-four hours was too overwhelming to put into words...you’ll have to see it for yourself.

A Note from Veronica
"I hope you will take some time to join me on this flight. The video footage is 19 minutes long but well worth the time. Below I've listed, in order, the sites we flew over."

  • University Lake, water supply for Chapel Hill
  • Jordan Lake, water supply for Cary
  • Falls Lake, water supply for Raleigh and parts of Wake County
  • Lake Michie, water supply for Durham.
