Watch Dark Waters with us on Dec. 6th at 7 PM down in Fayetteville, and learn more about PFAS pollution in Fayetteville and what it means to you and your family!

Dark Waters tells the true story of corporate defense attorney Robert Bilott (Mark Ruffalo) investigation and court case about the PFOA (a type of PFAS) contamination in Parkersburg, WV by Dupont, whose spin-off company Chemours is responsible for part of the PFAS contamination in Cumberland County. Toxic Free NC will be tabling this screening and would love to chat with you, hear any concerns or thoughts and provide you with information about PFAS contamination in Fayetteville and what it might mean to you and your family.

North Carolina is the state with the 3rd highest state for PFAS exposure. PFAS are a group of man-made chemicals (including Gen-X) that have been linked to a variety of health problems such as reproductive problems, reduced ability of the immune system to fight infections, increased risk for obesity and with some PFAS, increased risk for cancer. PFAS are also forever chemicals, meaning that once they are released to our environment or our body, they do not breakdown. Fayetteville and Cumberland County residents have been exposed to PFAS, both as a result of pollution from the Chemours plant and from firefighting foam used in Fort Bragg.
