It’s Time for Energy Justice. It’s Time to End the Duke Energy monopoly!
Energy Justice North Carolina (EJNC), a coalition of over a dozen organizations, is hosting events across the state. Join us in Winston-Salem at Temple Emmanuel on October 29 for the End the Duke Monopoly Tour to learn about a statewide campaign to create a more equitable playing field for clean, renewable, affordable energy and environmental justice.
Join others from Winston Salem in community conversations as we discuss impacts from the current energy system in North Carolina and imagine what a future just, energy system must and can look like.
We need state-wide action to loosening Duke Energy’s grip on our electricity system and our political system. EJNC advocates for energy systems that are more democratic, where local communities have a say in how and where their electricity is produced. Monopoly control of the state’s energy system has detrimental impacts such as rising electric rates, the use and expansion of polluting energy sources, restrictions on renewable energy and lack of action on climate change. These impacts improportionately impact people of color and Native American communities.
