Information

Here is a spooky statistic: 1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins end up in the landfill each year after Halloween– as reported in an article titled “Oh my Gourd!” by Waste Dive.

Learn how to keep pumpkins out of the landfill in your area after the Fall holidays at this Lunch-N-Learn Webinar with the NC Composting Council. Organizers from Toward Zero Waste, Wake, Durham, New Hanover, and Pender counties will share how they collect pumpkins on a large-scale in their communities. Whether the pumpkins go to local farms or compost facilities, hear tips and tricks from these experienced panelists: Marie Davis (Coastal Composting Committee Chair/Aramark), Riley Alber (Wilmington Compost Company), Muriel Williman (City of Durham), Bianca Howard (Wake County), and Kathleen Liebowitz (Toward Zero Waste).

The webinar will conclude with a Q&A, and be posted to NCCC’s YouTube Channel after the live recording.
