The Yadkin Riverkeeper Office is in Winston-Salem. NC, though work may cover the entire Yadkin River Watershed.
This is a two-month position to provide field support for the Yadkin Riverkeeper. Duties include field collection and sampling for water quality, processing samples for E. Coli counts, boat operation (both outboard and canoe/kayak), and sampling gear calibration and maintenance. The work schedule can be flexible.
Driver’s license and reliable vehicle, experience with basic lab procedure (measurement, sterile procedures, calibration), physically capable of walking in rough terrain and launching/ retrieving canoes or kayaks without assistance, ability to swim, experience operating outboard motors and boats, familiarity with MS Word and Excel.
NC Boater Safety License if born after January 1, 1988 (or the ability to obtain one quickly) is very desirable.
Red Cross 1st aid/CPR or equivalent, mapping skills (especially ArcGIS), public outreach and communication experience, including speaking or production of printed materials.
Other skills or experience may substitute for any of the above where applicable.
Salary / Compensation
Up to $20/hour. Approximately 15 hours/week. May 1- June 30, 2019.
