Carolina Advocates for Climate, Health and Equity (CACHE), a North Carolina based 501c (3), is a network of health professionals and advocates who recognize the climate crisis is a health emergency and are responding by creating equitable solutions. We are leveraging the power of our healthcare provider voices to inspire and activate our network to strengthen community resilience and reduce the health impacts of climate change across North Carolina. We engage our network in climate-informed education, advocacy, and research with community based organizations, health systems, and policy makers.

Position Overview:

The Operations & Communications Associate will play a critical role in advancing CACHE’s mission to co-create pathways for a healthier, more equitable future for all North Carolinians in the face of the climate crisis. This role requires a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong commitment to CACHE’s mission, experience in multiple areas of non-profit operations, and a passion for climate-health education.

This is a remote, part-time position (10-15 hours per week, on average) for an individual living in North Carolina. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

Operations Support

Meeting & Member Coordination:

  • Schedule, organize and create agendas for committee meetings and Board meetings.
  • Take meeting minutes and oversee meeting follow-ups.
  • Support collaboration across committees and assist Board and committee members in achieving goals.
  • Onboard new CACHE members (via email and/or zoom) by serving as initial point of contact and facilitating connections within CACHE.
  • Engage and manage a large volunteer base, and track member engagement.

Education Committee Co-Leadership:

  • Co-chair the committee with responsibilities similar to those listed above.
  • Coordinate and advertise educational events and trainings on climate, health and equity.
  • Coordinate development of promotional materials.
  • Co-develop clear roles and expectations for committee members.

Tracking Success & Amplifying Impact:

  • Maintain an online tracking system for organizational accomplishments (e.g. media mentions, advocacy milestones, etc.)
  • Document CACHE events and engagements to include in communications.

Communications

  • Lead CACHE communications, including:
  • Creating a newsletter (every 6-8 weeks), drafting weekly social media posts, and updating website as needed.
  • Developing other communications materials as needed (e.g. year-end reports, promotional materials for events, etc.).

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Health Policy Administration, Organizational Management, or similar discipline.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Google Workspace (Sheets, Drive, Docs)
  • Experience with website management (Squarespace), SEOs, email marketing tools (Mailchimp), and professional social media accounts strongly preferred.

  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-directed, adaptable, and committed to CACHE’s mission.
  • Flexibility to take on new responsibilities as they arise.

Salary/Benefits

Compensation: $30- per hour (remote contract position).

Hours: average of 10-15 hours per week

Flexibility: While some meetings occur at set, regular times each month, many tasks can be completed on a flexible schedule. This makes the role ideal for a self-starter who is comfortable managing their own priorities.
