Bio

As the State of the Environment Intern, Sierra supports the development of the 2024 State of the Environment by compiling and visualizing recent data across a wide breadth of environmental topics. Sierra is an Environmental Health Science major at the Gillings School of Public Health, minoring in Data Science. Driven by her passion for the intersections of public health, water management, policy, and infrastructural resiliency, she aims to advance research in these areas to design and improve communities often overlooked in long-term resiliency planning. Sierra actively participates in climate advocacy networks such as Rise St. James, the Sunrise Movement, and the Duke Climate Coalition. In her free time, she enjoys running, teaching yoga, tackling her never-ending reading list, and learning new languages.
