This is a water confidence session meant to guide individuals into feeling comfortable around natural bodies of water and develop basic skills in water Our certified instructor, Stephanie Cobb-Winfrey with the Black Butterfly Swim Club of Winston-Salem, will review basic water tips, discuss barriers to swimming & experiences, swim equipment with proper suit, cap, & goggles. Stephanie will also teach water comfort by enabling participants to get their faces wet & introduce front & back float. Capacity on this event is limited & EMS will be onsite to ensure safety. We ask the participants to be 18 & above.

Haw River Assembly’s Nature4All Diversity series seeks to encourage Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to find a sense of connection to outdoor recreation and highlight instructors and groups that provide BIPOC representation.
