Description

We’re looking for a motivated, self-directed intern to support Piedmont Environmental Alliance’s Earth Day Fair Art Contest by emailing and calling local art teachers, hanging flyers, and managing the display and judging of artwork on April 17-18th at the Piedmont Earth Day Fair.

The internship has a flexible schedule (10 hours a week), with half of hours in our downtown Winston-Salem office space.

Timeline:

  • January – End of April 2026.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Send emails, make phone calls, and have meetings to secure art teacher participation.
  • Hang posters for the art contest and Earth Day Fair around town.
  • Recruit and train artist judges to participate in the contest.
  • Hang and breakdown art contest displays on April 17th and 18th.

Qualifications

  • Comfortable with community outreach – including emails and phone calls to local businesses and organizations.
  • Enjoy working with people and leading events.
  • Demonstrated commitment to environmental and social issues a plus!

We are looking for you, if:

  • You are a planner who likes timelines and to-do lists.
  • You have a personal passion for the outdoors, environmental stewardship and sustainability, and have taken action to get involved in the issues you care about.
  • You are a current college student or recent grad looking for an opportunity to connect with the community and give back.

This is an unpaid volunteer position.
