Chasey Horne is a senior at Western Carolina University, pursuing degrees in Biology and Sociology. They have completed six animal care internships across a variety of facilities, most recently serving as an Aquarist Intern at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, IL during the past summer. Aside from their academic life, they volunteer at Balsam Mountain Trust assisting with daily care of the animal residents. They also enjoy hiking, scuba diving, playing piano, kayaking, writing controversial zoo/aquarium yelp reviews, reading, and spending time with their cat. After graduation, Chasey plans to continue working in animal care while furthering their experience in conservation research. They are enthusiastic about connecting conservation efforts to public education, and hope to bring a unique perspective to both conservation outreach and the NCCN through their years of experience in hands-on animal care.
