Information
Explore the unique landscape of Antioch Bay, one of North Carolina’s most remarkable Carolina Bays. This special wetland supports a Cypress savanna community, creating habitat for a diverse array of rare and uncommon plants and wildlife.
During this guided tour, we’ll explore what makes Antioch Bay so distinctive, including the bay’s hydrology, ecology, history, and recent management efforts at the site. The tour will include a combination of guided walking and time to explore the bay on your own, with TNC staff sharing their knowledge of this special place. There are no established trails, and the terrain is mostly flat but uneven. Recent vegetation management has also created some additional trip hazards, so sturdy footwear is recommended. This tour will offer accessible TrackChairs.
