Description

The North Carolina Conservation Network is seeking candidates for a part-time paid online organizing internship. The internship will be 15 hours per week during normal business hours and will run from June 1 to July 27 (dates are flexible).

The NC Conservation Network is a statewide network of over 60 environmental, health, and environmental justice organizations. The NC Conservation Network directly advocates for equitable and sustainable solutions for our environment and public health.

Responsibilities

The Social Media Intern will receive a first-hand experience in working at a statewide environmental nonprofit. The candidate’s responsibilities will involve:

  • Engaging with our social media followers through likes, comments, and direct messages.
  • Growing our social media following and create content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.
  • Compiling a list of allies, influencers, and others who should be engaging with our content.
  • Exploring and evaluating new social media tools, trends, and channels for the organization.
  • Researching and presenting examples of innovative ideas for social media and online organizing.

Applicants should be excited about social media, digital innovation, data-driven insight, engaging with online audiences, and learning more about North Carolina’s environmental community. Ideal candidates will be self-starters with a collaborative spirit who are creative, detail-oriented and have good time management skills.

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates will have a major, minor or, strong interest in communications, political science, environmental studies, or public policy.
  • Knowledge and comfort with wide range of social media platforms, especially with Instagram and TikTok.
  • Demonstrated interest in progressive issues and, in particular, an interest in environmental, environmental justice, and public health issues.
  • Eagerness to learn new things and collaborate with our team.
  • Have ability to work 100% remotely for this internship and join weekly zoom meetings.

Salary/Benefits

$20 per hour for up to 15 hours per week over 8 weeks.
